Let’s go to Krabi! They say..

Down south Thailand, tucked away from the big cities, exists many beautiful beaches and resorts waiting to be ticked off your travel bucket list! One of it, being Krabi. Don’t be too conservative though, Krabi is not all island, you ought to save some of the exploration for Krabi town.

Generally, you can opt to stay in Krabi town or by the bay, on west side of Krabi Town  by the bay. They are not too far apart from each other, about 20 mins away. The only trouble is transport in between but that can be easily solved by renting a bike! I always try to rent bikes if possible, as it is one of the convenient ways of getting around in small towns.

Perhaps the most obvious thing to do in Krabi is everything that has to do with beach activity. Need I say more? Besides the usual snorkeling, abseiling, jet-skiing and etc, there’s also the famous James Bond island tour (which I did not go to) and watching the bioluminescent planktons during the night time (definitely look out for this one!). A sunset BBQ over a cruise or even by the beach is recommended. You can’t NOT enjoy a place like Krabi. The relaxed nature of the beach and town makes it a great escape! It is the best combination of delicious food, cheap beers and expansive beach culture. How can it ever go wrong? Even if it was raining everyday, which happened to me whilst I was there, I still enjoyed my stay very much!

Krabi Town

Krabi town is like most towns in Thailand. Filled with markets, buses, bikes and cars and the crowd. As busy as it may sound, it was still less busy compared to Bangkok. I still felt somewhat at ease and wasn’t really stressed out on where I was walking. Everything wasn’t going too fast neither too slow. It was at the right pace. Food in almost any restaurant never disappoints (that is, if you like Thai food, with all the spices) I must generalise, in my opinion, food NEVER disappoints in Thailand. Delicious food is probably a given in Thailand; works really well for my tastebuds.

THINGS TO DO:

1. Definitely give Krabi town a good round of exploration. Rent a bike, its cheap and convenient.
2. There is a restaurant that locals go to for a good meal, called Ruan Thip restaurant. Google maps will take you there.
3. Whether you end up staying in town or near the bay, we found a good range of pubs/bars along Road 4203, Ao Nang.
4. You cannot leave Krabi without dipping into the ocean! Snorkeling is a good option to see the beautiful Krabi for what it is – blue waters, colourful fishes and corals. You should include in your snorkeling activity, a visit to Tup Island. Most island tours will include this
5. Drink, swim and be happy
