I really enjoyed my stay in this resort that I wanted to have a dedicated post about it. Preskil Island Resort is a 4 star resort uniquely located in the South of the island close to where the airport is. (about 15 mins by car).
You can say this resort is almost isolated as it’s far from any of the main cities in Mauritius. But that’s also it’s selling point. Tucked away from the noise, this resort will truly give you the break of your lifetime. The rooms are beautifully designed with comfortable sheets and breathtaking views.
The resort is quite fairly large, the infinity pool is fantastic and I love their available sun lounges and beach cabanas for you to choose from. It has all your basic hotel amenities which you’d expect from a 4 star rated hotel. But what I really want to talk about is the activities provided by the hotel. It’s really quite common here that you will be able to participate in activities provided free by the hotels when you stay with them. I was pleasantly surprised by this because the resorts I have stayed in Malaysia did not provide such service. Some of the things provided free by the hotel include snorkeling, kayaking, etc.

The best thing about this hotel by far is the fact that it is just opposite Ile aux Aigrettes, which is a sanctuary of preserved flora and fauna. Snorkeling trips will take you between the resort and just a shy away from Ile aux Aigrettes. This was the best snorkeling trip of my life! It was the trip that convinced me to get my own snorkeling gear. I saw so many types of fishes, beautiful and colourful corals. I saw a purple sea urchin! My previous snorkeling experiences haven’t been the best. Sometimes it was sandy, the snorkeling gear wasn’t great and the fishes only came when the guide had food in their hands. This was all natural and pristine, a true testament to the wonders of the underwater world.

Besides their beautiful rooms, I love how the lobby was built around surrounding ponds. They have plenty of comfortable designer-looking chairs for you to relax on and because it’s not enclosed, it is breezy accompanied with the sounds of the waves. The staff were friendly and very accommodating however, I do believe their service can be slightly improved. We asked for a bottle opener and they made us running around looking for it only to be told in the end that they do not provide bottle openers (which I thought was absurd for a 4 star hotel). They finally had someone come to the door to “lend” us a bottle opener and told us we had to give it back. That was offensive and we were really not happy about it.
Perhaps they were understaffed as we had a horrible experience at the restaurants. Many of the tables were not cleared or prep. We were seated at a table where there was a missing fork. We asked for it but no one came for at least 30 mins. We got frustrated and walk over to the next table to steal a fork.
It is unfortunate for the few mishaps we experienced. Overall I really do love the resort. It is beautifully designed, beds were very comfortable, rooms were clean and the pool is stunning!
If you really want to get away from it all and guarantee a snorkeling experience of your lifetime, I’d recommend coming here. It’s without a doubt one of the best hotels I’ve stayed for a beach holiday apart from the lack of service I’ve had. It seems for Mauritius, the hospitality industry is still recovering after the pandemic so I’m giving it a chance.
I hope you enjoyed this article as much I enjoyed reminiscing my stay at this hotel.

[…] I will break the south into a few cities and their unique charms. Here are some of the details of what I’ve personally experienced and what I would recommend doing. There was one particular resort where I really enjoyed my stay and wrote about it here. […]
